the youngest brother has shown an amazing amount of strength and courage in his growing up and so wanted a colour to reflect that, thought that navy and blue were the best choices. chose to include an elephant bead to represent wisdom, memory, and with its trunk up; good luck.

materials: cotton varigated spun yarn, felt tiny top hat, grosgrain ribbon, jacquard ribbon, plastic elephant bead, plastic mottled button, plastic blue button,  silk/cotton jersey, wood veneer paper.

for the eldest son’s fiance i wanted to tie the two of them together. i used silver accents to tie them together and make them as their own family within the larger scheme of the family. i also chose green for her as their wedding will be greens and green is always the colour of growth and nature. she is also a bit sparkly, girly, and pretty laid back and felt green represented that.

materials: damask covered button, crystal button, felt tiny top hat, glittered berry, glittered stems, plastic faceted button, plastic leaf, satin ribbon, silver charm, silver hammered circle, silver wire,  velvet leaf, velvet ribbon.

the oldest son is the middle child.  he has always loved red.  he is also a firefighter and i thought red was fitting. the navy is also shared with the father as both are silent, still, & peaceful. as a male in the family involved with the lumber yard he got the wood veneer paper as well. i also used silver in his and his fiance’s so that they were tied together too.

materials:  cotton yarn,  faceted plastic button, felt ribbon, grosgrain ribbon with pickstitch, navy/red check ribbon, silver feather charm, silver wire, & wood veneer paper.

i chose yellow for the eldest daughter as she exudes an aura of yellow, has a positive outlook and is outspoken, aggressive, and sunny.

materials: carved feather, cockatiel feathers, cotton yarn, felt tiny top hat, grosgrain ribbon, raffia ribbon, plastic faceted button, metal heart button, satin ribbon, silk/cotton jersey, silk dupoini ribbon.

all of the top hats repeat that light yellow colour shown here in the wood veneer paper as to tie them together as a family. the men in the family all have this veneer paper as the family owns a lumber yard and all are involved in the business. this hat represents the dad through use of nature inspired palette and saturated colours. his wife once referred to him as the rock of the family with still waters that run deep.

materials: brushed cotton twill, bumpy pipe cleaner, felt tiny top hat, grosgrain ribbon with pickstitching, navy cord, plastic leaf shape, wood veneer paper.
